Ella & Jo’s Pre Wedding Skin Preparation

Ella & Jo’s Pre Wedding Skin Preparation

Firstly, If you are reading the post about pre-wedding skin preparation after your engagement we would like to extend our congratulations to you!
Wedding planning is such an exciting and busy time for you as a couple. Whether you are bursting with ideas you’ve dreamt of incorporating into your wedding day for years or frantically scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration - you will be quick to realize the amount of thought, preparation, and planning that is involved in creating your wedding day.
The initial period after the engagement usually involves reviewing wedding venues, securing a date, and researching potential wedding service providers especially your bridal makeup artist.

Bridal Makeup

Bridal makeup is usually a subtle soft glam that’s focused on highlighting and enhancing your natural features so you feel your most beautiful and confident.    Bridal makeup artists tend to stay away from strong contours or bold colors you may not usually wear in your day-to-day look.                It’s wedding planning best practice to book your bridal makeup artist as soon as you confirm your wedding date so you will have a better chance of securing your first choice of makeup artist, then organize a makeup trial to make sure your vision matches the makeup artists style and you are good to go!

Prepping your Skin for your Wedding Day

The key to fabulous makeup for the day of your wedding is a skincare routine that will help keep your skin in tip-top shape.
We’ve outline a simple yet effective skincare routine that will deliver wonder ingredients in order to condition and nourish your skin.

Morning Skincare Routine

A morning skincare routine prepares the skin for the day and removes any product that had been applied from the night before. Our skin shed cells throughout the day so we’ve created a sample skincare routine below that will keep your skin glowing, treat wrinkles and keep your skin looking its best.

Cleanser

Cleansing to begin the day will remove any products, oil build-up, dead skin cell transfer from bedding, or dirt that gathers on the face overnight. Cleansing effectively in the mornings will help to keep the complexion smooth and bright and the removal of debris makes it easier for other products to be absorbed.
We recommend Ella & Jo’s Brighten and Glow Hydrating Exfoliating Cleanser which we formulated with effective gentle daily care that in mind.
The Brighten and Glow Exfoliating Cleanser nourish the skin while cleansing and exfoliating, It is a multi-functional product to add into your skincare routine with ingredients like Pumpkin Fruit Enzymes, Grapeseed Oil, Sunflower Oil, Avocado Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil. Your skin is sure to enjoy a mix of vitamins, omega fatty acids, and superfoods to keep it balanced and glowing.

Facial Mist

Keep skin supple and glowing after cleansing with a facial mist. Ella and Jo’s 3 in 1 Skin Mist formula provides fast-absorbing, long-lasting hydration in a beautiful scent.

Serum

Face serums are important in your morning routine as they are lighter than a moisturizer but deliver active ingredients to the skin a lot faster.
The Hydrating Hyaluronic Serum combines ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Matrixyl 3000, Jasmine & Green Tea to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve collagen levels, whilst soothing & moisturizing your skin for the day.

Eye Cream

The skin around the eye tends to be thinner and more prone to dryness.  Any bride from their late twenties plus should look to add an eye cream to their daily routine to help reduce signs of aging as our eyes tend to show signs of aging more quickly than the rest of our body.
Some experts recommend using your ring finger to apply eye creams as it gives you just the right amount of pressure for applying eye cream and the perfect opportunity to flash that engagement ring. ;)

Moisturiser

Moisturising in the morning is necessary to maintain your skin’s moisture barrier. Using a moisturer with added SPF will help to keep your skin hydrated as well as protect from harmful UV Rays which over time cause the skin to age.

Evening Skincare Routine

An evening skin care routine is essential to remove makeup, dirt, oil build-up, and pollutants that gather on your skin throughout the day.
Skin cells move into their peak regeneration state during the night and products are more easily absorbed than during the day - a.k.a the perfect time to absorb all those skin-loving ingredients.

Cleanser

Taking makeup, oil build-up, pollutants, and dirt off of the face correctly is the key to preventing a build-up on the skin which could cause blocked pores, acne, or signs of aging.
To correctly cleanse in the evening and reveal a fresh face, we recommend "Double Cleansing"
Start with 'Melt the Day Away Cleansing Balm'  which is a balm to oil cleanser that will effectively remove makeup whilst delivering skin-loving ingredients to condition skin.
Follow with Brighten & Glow Hydrating Exfoliating Cleanser which will now have a blank canvas free from makeup to reveal brighter, glowing, hydrated, and smoother-looking skin.

Facial Mist

Follow your double cleanse with a spritz of your facial mist, similar to the morning routine.

Serum

Treat the skin with the ‘Hydrating Hyaluronic Serum’ which will deliver ingredients to the skin where it can help the skin to repair past signs of damage and conditioning.

Eye Cream

Follow your serum with your eye cream the same way as during the day. If you are suffering from deep lines or extra dryness in the eye area, it may be beneficial to invest in a separate eye cream for both day and night.
Night eye creams tend to be heavier as they will be allowed to sit on the skin to repair and replenish throughout the night as opposed to the quick absorption we need from a day eye cream.

Overnight Moisturising Treatment

Finish your evening skincare routine with an overnight moisturizing treatment. Skin will work to repair skin cell damage that occurs during day-to-day life so choosing a product that will aid your skin as well as moisturize, will help to fight signs of aging.

Other Weekly Skincare Routine Tips

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is the physical removal of dead skin cells. Experts recommend that people should aim to exfoliate skin two to three times per week to keep skin glowing and fresh.    Of course, everyone is different so if you are starting from a place (dare we say) of no exfoliation, you may start at once a week to build yourself up to 2-3 times a week.
We recommend the ‘Brighten & Glow Hydrating Exfoliating Cleanser’ which doubles as both a cleanser and an exfoliator.
To use as an exfoliating mask, apply a thin layer to the face and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before removing it with a soft damp cloth 1-2 times a week.
This product contains Pumpkin Fruit Enzymes which are perfect for softening, exfoliating, and smoothing the appearance of fine lines.    Pumpkin fruit enzymes also help with enhancing cellular renewal to provide excellent exfoliating benefits without the common irritation associated with AHAs so you will avoid using any harsh chemical on the skin.
Looking for a hydrating and conditioning mask? The 'Melt the Day Away' Cleansing Balm can be used as a mini mask, Just leave it on the skin for 10 minutes before washing it off.

Lifestyle tips to help prepare the skin for your wedding day

Your skin is also affected by other factors such as exercise, water & nutrition. In the lead-up to your wedding day ensuring you enjoy a balanced diet, adequate exercise, and around 2 and a half liters of water a day should help skin appear in top condition.
We wish you all the best in the run-up to your wedding and hope you enjoy prepping and planning for your special day.
